Purpose¶
Install and configure an Epson USB chit/order printer for use with Jonas POS, including driver setup and Jonas printer-style assignment.
Prerequisites¶
- Workstation on domain, logged into admin profile for driver install
- Jonas already installed and functional on the workstation
- Jonas

- Internet access to download drivers
Steps¶
Driver Installation (from Admin Profile)¶

- Go to https://support.epson.net/setupnavi/
- Search by printer model number (e.g.,
TM-T88VI) - Download the latest English version
-
[ ] Unzip the downloaded file
-
Run the installer
- Launch the unzipped setup and choose Minimum (Standard) installation
- When prompted to select a driver, pick the best match for the printer make
- [ ] Name the printer Chit
- [ ] Create a new USB port
-
[ ] Set as Default printer
-
Switch to Generic/Text-Only driver
- Open Control Panel → Devices and Printers and verify the printer appears

- [ ] Log into each user profile (or have the user log in) and set Chit as the default printer — this does not carry over from the admin profile
Jonas POS Printer Configuration (from Jonas CSupport account)¶
- Find the terminal ID
- Log into Jonas on the POS workstation as
CSupport -
Note the terminal ID shown at the bottom-right of the Jonas window (beside date/time), or click the ? icon on the login screen
-
Open Workstation Setup
- Navigate to Workstation Setup and enter the terminal ID
- Select Point of Sale on the right side
-
Click Printer Styles
-
Assign the printer style
- Two methods exist — choose based on the club's setup:
Method A — Shared printer style (one style for all POS terminals) - Select the shared style (usually named CHIT or similar) - Device must be set to DEFAULT (this auto-selects the Windows default printer) - Select the correct Device Driver for the printer model - [ ] Click Test to print a test chit
Method B — Per-terminal printer style (unique style per POS) - Select the printer style specific to this terminal ID - Click the printer icon beside the device name and pick the locally installed printer from the list - [ ] Click Test to print a test chit
Notes / Gotchas¶
- Do NOT select "USB Printer" — this appends
*WINPRT*;to the device name. While it technically works for USB printers, it is only for specific circumstances and will cause issues in most club deployments. - Do NOT select "POS Printer" — this option is reserved for printers used with online ordering or Mobile POS.
- Driver model mapping varies per printer. The Jonas Device Driver field must match the actual printer model (e.g., TM-T88VI). Refer to the Jonas supplement guide for driver-to-model mappings.
- Know the club's style strategy before configuring: some clubs use one shared "CHIT" style across all POS terminals; others use a unique printer style per terminal ID. Check an existing POS station if unsure.
- Generic / Text Only is required. The Epson driver alone will not produce correctly formatted Jonas chits.
- Admin → user default carry-over: Windows does not transfer the default printer setting from the admin profile to standard user profiles. You must set the default in each user's profile separately.
